Ofsted Report 2010
Bexhill College was inspected by Ofsted from the 2nd-5th of November 2010 and a glowing report was published in December 2010.
This means that Bexhill College gets good results equal to or above national benchmarks for Sixth Form Colleges which are higher than those for FE Colleges. Ofsted confirmed that the College provides good teaching, learning and student support and has good leadership and management throughout.
The inspectors noted that ‘students make good progress during their time at College and at advanced level many gain higher grades than those predicted by their GCSE results'. They also noted that students on BTEC National Diploma courses make ‘excellent progress’. Ofsted commented that teachers and students have access to ‘high quality resources’ and that the College has promoted equality and diversity well, successfully closing the achievement gap between different groups of students. Ofsted concluded that ‘the students experience and outcomes are at the heart of the College’s work.’ They recognised the high levels of performance in the College and recommended that the College continue to develop teachers’ skills and share good practice to improve further.
Principal, Karen Hucker says ‘This report confirmed the College as a GOOD College which provides high quality education for the young people of Rother and Hastings'.
‘The areas should be proud that the excellent achievements of its young people, the support of their parents and the commitment of all the staff at the College has been publically recognised.’
