How much will it cost me?

Tuition Fees

This covers teaching, tutorials and assessment / exam fees for the course. If you are enrolled on a qualification course in the part time programme, of more than 10 week duration, you can pay in 3 instalments.

The first instalment must be paid on or before the enrolment evening on 2 September. The remaining two instalments are due by 23 September and 21 October.

Unfortunately if the fees are not paid in full by 21 October you will be withdrawn from the course. For other courses please see page 2 of the Prospectus.

If you choose to pay by instalments, you make a commitment to follow the entire course, and may be liable for the full amount of fees and any exam costs etc that may have been paid on your behalf if you subsequently withdraw without making full payment. The fees quoted apply to "home" and "EU" students and may be subject to change.

If your employer is paying, please make this clear on the Learner's Agreement showing contact name and address.

College Deposit

ALL students enrolled on qualification courses detailed in the part-time programme are required to pay College Deposit of £90 (£30 refundable on completion of the course, provided no monies are owed to College).

Am I entitled to help with fees?

Fee Remission

If you're aged between 19 and 23 and in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) or Employment Support Allowance (ESA) in the Work Related Activity Group, you may be eligible for help with the tuition fees on some qualification courses. Please note students claiming fee remission must enrol in person with proof of their eligibility. This should be the latest letter detailing your eligibility to JSA or the appropriate ESA.

If you are aged between 19 and 23 and have not previously achieved a full level 2 or 3 qualification, you may be entitled to free tuition.

For information on these entitlements please speak to Michelle Hartley.

Refunds

  • If your chosen course does not run, we will refund your payment in full.
  • If you choose to withdraw from a course in the first week, we will refund your payment, but a deduction of £12 will be made for administration, plus a charge for the week you have attended. You must apply for the refund in writing to the Adult Learning Co-ordinator.
  • Refunds will not normally be offered after the first week of a course, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
  • If the College has to close due to adverse weather conditions, power failure or fire, alternative arrangements will be offered where possible.

What facilities and support are available to me?

  • Access to the College's Learning Resource Centre during normal College hours and up to 7.00pm on Mondays. You must have a Student ID card to access this facility. Extra study help for students on exam based courses who have difficulties coping with the demands of their course is available. Details can be obtained from Student Services.

What other important information should I know about?

Changes to Details

Although we have made every effort to ensure that the information in this booklet is accurate, details are subject to change and the College reserves the right to make such changes as are deemed necessary.

Course Viability

If the number of students on your course falls below a certain level (usually 8 students) we will contact you and discuss the options. These may include reducing the total hours of the course, reducing the numbers of weeks, or amalgamating with another group. As a last resort we reserve the right to close the class.

Problems

We hope that everything goes well with your course, but sometimes problems arise. Therefore, if you are unhappy with our service, please let us know so that we can learn for the future.

If you have a complaint, please raise it in the first instance with your tutor or the Adult Learning Co-ordinator. If you are still unhappy with the situation, you can write to the Principal. We shall always try to respond quickly and constructively.
