A Level Celebrations At Bexhill College

Info Updated August 2011

Thursday morning was as tense as always for students as they waited to collect their A level results at Bexhill College. The College has a long history of outstanding academic performance and this year was no exception as they delivered another set of excellent ‘A’ level exam results. The 2011 results have upheld Bexhill Colleges reputation for outstanding academic success once again. In November 2010, the College was inspected by OfSTED who commented that ‘many advanced level students achieve above the grades expected of them’ and this performance further confirms this conclusion.

Initial indications are that the College has achieved an A Level pass rate of 98% which is above the 2010 national average. The College had 992 A level entries this summer in 43 subjects and has achieved 74% A* to C.

Students work extremely hard to achieve their qualifications and places at university or in employment. This year, achieving those grades was even more important with it being the last year before tuition fees increase alongside a tough job market. Many students are taking four or five subjects over the two years and so the pressure remains high for advanced level students. The IB results arrived earlier in July, also producing some strong individual performances.

The vocational course results have also been outstanding again this year. 160 young people took courses equivalent to 3 A levels with 51% of students achieving triple distinctions in their BTEC National Diplomas which is the equivalent to three Grade As. In Sports Science, 80% of students achieved the coveted triple distinction and in Uniformed Services and Early years, 51% of students achieved a triple distinction.

There are many outstanding achievements across a whole range of academic and vocational subjects. As usual, a significant number of students achieved straight ‘A’ grades in all exams taken in both AS and A2 subjects.

College Principal, Karen Hucker, commented ‘We are very proud of our students performances. So many students have achieved fantastic success with us at Bexhill College and we are absolutely delighted for them. As always, these results reflect an incredible amount of hard work by students, teachers and support from parents. These achievements will provide students with a strong basis for future opportunities in a continually difficult financial climate. We wish all our students the very best for the future and thank them for the contribution they have made to the ongoing academic success of the college’

These results have brought a pleasing conclusion to a very successful year.
