Bexhill College Takes Part In ‘Run The World’
Info Updated May 2012
Bexhill College staff and students recently took part in the ‘Run The World’ challenge in aid of WellChild. The challenge involved all 6th Form Colleges from across the country and required each College to run, row, cycle or swim 300 miles. Once these miles had been completed, the total addition of all miles would make up the equivalent to the circumference of the world.
The aim was for all participating College’s to have reached this goal by 4pm on the 4th May, 2012 hours until the start of the London 2012 Olympics.
All money raised from each of the Colleges was then donated to WellChild, a national charity for sick children. The charity supports children and young people throughout the UK facing serious illness and complex conditions.
Bexhill College threw itself into the challenge with gusto, setting up rowing machines in the College Refectory and exercise bikes in reception. A College-wide run/walk was also organised around the all-weather pitch, with tutors bringing their tutor groups down to the pitch and walking or running the 6 full laps in order to make up their individual miles.
All in all, the students and staff smashed the challenge by completing a whopping 376 miles!
The event was a great example of how the College staff and students work together to get involved and show support for so many charities throughout the College year.
The challenge was met by Wednesday 2nd May, with 2 days to spare.
Bexhill College would like to thank its staff and students for their contribution to the ‘Run The World’ campaign!
