Bexhill College’s Bee Run!
Info Updated May 2012
Bexhill 6th Form College has yet again surprised the people of Hastings with another charity fundraising Flash Mob. Last week, almost 50 staff and students dressed as buzzy bees and ran a one-mile fun-run around the town centre in aid of St. Michael’s Hospice.
Marketing, PR and Communications Officer, Emma Meeres said ‘We have carried out a number of fantastic events at the College in recent weeks to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the charity which involved the College Mascot, the BC Bee, running the Hastings Half Marathon, an all-day guitar marathon, a pool tournament and a half marathon indoor row. The Bee Run was a way to raise the profile of the charity and the incredible work it does’.
The students and staff of Bexhill College arrived at the Hastings Bus Terminal outside the train station sporting yellow t-shirts, bee wings, bee antennae and, of course, their running shoes. After disembarking from the coach, the bees then proceeded to run the mile following the College mascot, the BC BEE.
The by-standers of the town were very surprised to see the swarm of bees carrying their collection tins, many members of the public donated to the cause with some even filming the unique event on their mobile phones.
After completing the route that spanned across the town and the seafront of Hastings, the bees made a swift exit on to the coach and vanished.
Bexhill College would like to thank all the students and staff who took part in this memorable charity run and to Rambler Coaches for their kind support.
