Students Triumph At Olympics Job Application
Info Updated April 2012
Bexhill 6th Form College is extremely proud to announce that four of its students have been selected to help out with the Swimming events at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. Sports and Activities Manager, Sean Collins, submitted various applications on behalf of students Dan White, Hugh Richardson, Stephanie Heaps and Joshua Bishop into a variety of volunteer job roles for the Olympics and Paralympics.
It was considered a long shot by all, as the Olympics had an overwhelming response to these job roles, with an estimated 250,000 applications received. However, it would seem luck was shining on Bexhill College, as our students were selected to pass through to the next stage of the application! So it was onto London to compete in the next selection round, which involved Dan, Hugh, Stephanie and Joshua completing two tasks for which they all displayed real teamwork and enthusiasm.
After a tense wait, Sean was able to tell the students that they had been successful in their application, and will now be offered the opportunity to assist in the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Swimming Competitions! Our students will be carrying the boxes at the end of the lanes used by the Olympians and Paralympians before they enter the water. The students will be participating in the Olympic and Paralympic trials as well as the main events at the brand new Aquatics Centre in London.
Dan, Hugh, Stephanie and Joshua will be kitted out in full Olympic Uniform which they will be able to keep, and will most probably appear on TV when the Olympics and Paralympics are televised in July and August.
All the students are extremely excited and nervous to be involved in what is undeniably the biggest sporting event in the world. Bexhill College congratulates Dan, Hugh, Stephanie and Joshua for all the hard work they have done and all the effort they have put towards achieving such an honour, and we know they will make the college proud.
Bexhill College would also like to thank KELMAT SERVICES, Specialist Construction & Cost Management Services, for their kind sponsorship which will pay for the travel/transportation of our students to the Olympics and Paralympics.
