Early Years Nursery Children Experience Jubilee Joy

Info Updated July 2012

Bexhill College was very proud that its Early Years Nursery was invited by Derek Stevens, the Chief Executive of Rother District Council to see the unveiling of the plaque to commemorate the new Diamond Jubilee Walk near the De La Warr Pavilion. The invitation was especially exciting as the Earl and Countess of Wessex were to unveil the new walk.

On the morning of the unveiling, the nursery staff and children made their way down to the De La Warr. Upon arrival, they were each handed a Union Jack flag, which they were instructed to wave as best as they could when their Royal Highnesses appeared. The weather seemed to realise how important the day was, with the clouds disappearing and glorious sunshine beaming down as soon as everyone started to take their places.

As soon as the Royal couple came into view, the Nursery children started waving their flags with energy and enthusiasm. It soon paid off, as Sophie, Countess of Wessex, came over to chat to the children about their pretty outfits and their excitement at the summer holidays arriving!

After saying hello and meeting many of the local school and nursery children that had gathered for the event, Sophie then joined her husband in unveiling the plaque that announced the Jubilee Walk as open!
