NCFE Afternoon Tea

Info Updated July 2012

The 'Adult Learners With Disabilities & Differences' creative craft group had spent a term creating artworks and designing/making various projects based on the theme of British Culture. Inevitably, they discussed British food and customs and decided to celebrate completing the college courses with a very British tea party!

A raffle was planned for the event so some of the Adult Learners asked local shops in the town for donations and gained some wonderful prizes for the event. Woosters, Domino’s Pizza, Care , Louis's Fish and Chips and The Cooden Beach Hotel are just a few of the local businesses who generously gave prizes.

The art students helped prepare the afternoon and many friends, students and support staff contributed beautiful homemade cakes. Tea was served in vintage china and bunting and flowers decorated the room for the truly British event.

One learner, Nigel Dryden, made a grand entrance dressed up as HRH, wearing a classic wrap dress and regal robe, accessorized with a tiara and gold handbag. Nigel was keen to add some fun and laughter to make the afternoon truly memorable.

Everyone who attended really enjoyed reminiscing about the college year, eating the gourmet food and many went home with amazing prizes from the raffle. Altogether, the raffle raised £119.08! All money raised from this event goes to Headway, a charity specialising in giving help and support to people affected by brain injury.

Many thanks to all the businesses who donated prizes for this celebration.
