Asdan Students Hold Sound, Music & Rhythm And Creative Crafts Exhibition.

Info Updated June 2012

On Tuesday 19th of June, Adult Learners with disabilities and differences hosted an exhibition of their work at Jameson Mews, the Adult Skills for Life department of Bexhill College.

10 learners from the ASDAN Towards Independence Music, Sound & Rhythm course created an amazing "virtual" jungle in one class room and performed singing with percussion throughout the afternoon with help from their TA, Caroline Develyn . The musicians had created jungle plants, African Maasai Warriors, shields and masks to create the jungle. In performance breaks the learners had sounds of African animals playing on a CD that they had recently recorded on a visit to Drusillas Zoo as part of their course.

In conjunction to the Virtual room, the Adult Learners from the NCFE Level 1 Creative Craft course exhibited a wide selection of high quality art work that they had produced throughout the year. Each Learner displayed a selection of their work including A1 portfolios, sketchbooks and folders. A good flow of visitors came to view the exhibition and enjoyed talking to the adult learners about their creative achievements and left well deserved feedback in the learners individual comment books.

Victoria May, the Adult Learner’s Tutor commented, "All Adult Learner's on the Sound, Music & Rhythm and Creative Craft courses have worked extremely hard this year producing work which really needed to be seen by more people, so it was showcased in an outstanding art exhibition with singing. The positive feedback the students received at the exhibition was truly justified as they really are a talented group of individuals who make me feel very proud to teach."
