Why Should You Take This Course?
Successful completion of this course will reward the learner with evidence of industry specific skills, which would enable the candidate to stand out on entry to the workplace. In addition, the qualification carries UCAS points, equivalent to 3 A Levels, meaning that successful learners will be equipped with both the skills, and the qualifications, to gain a place on a related degree at universities nationwide.
This course is designed to offer students an opportunity to undertake high quality, employment-related learning with a focus on Information Technologies, Computing and Creative Technologies. Students who are considering this course are doing so based on a long standing love of technology, a logical interest in what makes computers work and a passion and desire to solve problems by building and deploying computing (hardware and software) and new media solutions.
This course allows for a very broad, and useful curriculum of study, and development of a wide, vocationally desirable skillset, whilst at the same time appealing to students who would like to develop their skills in creative information technologies. Students will cover 18 units; the core units will include Information and Technology Systems and ICT in the Workplace. Other units may include Computer Graphics, Animation, 3D Modelling, Programming and Computer Game Design. Students will also be required to complete a unit in Mathematics for ICT.
How will I be assessed?
Depending on the study program chosen, students will cover a range of centre assessed, and externally assessed coursework units. These units will be taught to industry standards using state of the art software and hardware. Grades are awarded at either Distinction, Merit or Pass (A/B, C and E A Level grade equivalent).
What could I do next?
Through this course, our learners will develop the skills and understanding that they need to prepare for their chosen career, preparing them for progression to higher or further education or into employment or apprenticeships.
