Sport Subsidiary Diploma

Entry Requirements:
At least 4-5 GCSEs graded 9-4 or A*-C including English or Maths.

Why Should You Take This Course?
This course is ideal for students who wish to study a sports course alongside other Level 3 Qualifications. The course will enhance your knowledge of the sporting industry and develop your skills in becoming a sports scientist. Within the course you will gain an understanding of how the body and mind respond to exercise and how to coach athletes in a safe sporting environment.

Course content
You will study a variety of topics across the 2 years which may include;
Anatomy and Physiology in Sport
Assessing Risk in Sport
Sports Coaching
Psychology for Sports Performance
Sports Nutrition
Fitness Testing
Each topic is related to the sporting interests of the group wherever possible and adapted to be as practical as the course allows. It is advisable to have a strong scientific interest and an interest in a variety of sports.
This course is an ideal alternative to A Level Physical Education.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is completed across the two years using externally assessed exams and internally assessed assignment work focusing on specific tasks relating to each unit. Grading is conducted on a Pass, Merit or Distinction level. Students are expected to undertake independent learning outside of the classroom environment throughout the course to aid their academic development.

There is a compulsory sports kit that all students will be expected to wear in all lessons.
