Why Should You Take This Course?
This Level 3 course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in the Health or Social Care sectors. You will investigate the sectors in the classroom and will also go out into a range of workplace settings allowing you to put theory into practice.
To achieve the certificate learners must achieve nine core mandatory units graded 9-4; five units are studied in the first year and four in the second year. The nine mandatory units are:
• Equality and diversity
• Human growth and development
• Safeguarding in health and social care
• Communication in health and social care
• Infection prevention and control in health and social care
• Psychological perspectives in health and social care
• Sociological perspectives in health and social care
• Working in health and social care
• Reflective practice
How will I be assessed?
There are no exams in this qualification, you will provide a portfolio of evidence which will include essays, PowerPoint presentations, leaflets, and booklets. All units are grades 9-4. You will also complete one extended assessment, which is set and marked externally.
Are there any special expenses?
You will undertake 75 hours of work experience as part of the course. There may be some transport costs involved, although placements are arranged near to home or college where possible. There is a cost for a DBS check and a College polo shirt and sweatshirt.
What could I do next?
This course gives access to higher education courses such as Nursing, Radiography, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Social Work and a variety of other related degrees.
