Why Should You Take This Course?
This qualification prepares learners to become Early Years Educators enabling you to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of 5 to 7 years or access Higher Education to study primary education or a range of Early Years degrees.
You will complete 750 hours of work placement in a variety of settings including child-minders, nurseries, primary schools, private schools and school for children with additional needs.
You will study 15 units including:
- Child Development
- Children's Health and Well-being
- Play and Learning
- Observation, Assessments and Planning
- Providing Safe Environments
- Professional Practice
- Supporting Numeracy and Literacy Skills
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed in a variety of ways, to include: Two externally set essays, projects, work placement portfolios and assessments at work placement.
Are there any special expenses?
A DBS check is required for work placement as is a uniform. There will be a cost to travel to and from placement.
What could I do next?
You will learn the skills and qualities needed to work with children and build a portfolio of evidence to support your transition into Higher Education or employment. In order to gain employment as a qualified Childcare Practitioner students will need to have GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
