Financial Studies Certificate/Diploma

Entry Requirements:
At least 5 GCSEs graded A* - C including English or Maths at grade C/4 or above.

Why Should You Take This Course?
The Certificate in Financial Studies (CeFS) has been designed to provide students with a challenging qualification covering the core disciplines of financial capability. You will gain an appreciation of why money is important through focusing on what money is, attitudes to it and how it can affect life choices. You will be introduced to the financial services industry by focusing on the interaction between money, personal finance and the financial services market place.
There are many enrichment opportunities available to Economics students including, the Institute for Financial Services Investor Challenge, the Young Financial Journalist of the Year and the Financial Capability in Action Award.

Course content
Certificate Year 1:
Unit 1 - Financial Capability for the Immediate and Short Term
Unit 2 - Financial Capability for the Medium and Long Term
Diploma Year 2:
Unit 3 - Sustainability of an Individual's Finances
Unit 4 - Sustainability of the Financial Services System

How will I be assessed?
Unit 1 and Unit 2
Part A: 35 multiple choice questions in a 45-minute examination.
Part B: pre-release case study requiring essay responses to 5 questions in a 105-minute examination.
Unit 3 and Unit 4
Part A: 35 multiple choice questions in a 1-hour examination.
Part B: pre-release case study requiring essay responses to 5 questions in a 2-hour examination.

What could I do next?
This course will earn you UCAS points if you wish to continue studying at university. However, if you wish to venture into the world of work, this qualification will provide you with the skills to enter the financial services industry.
