Entry Requirements:
A grade D/3 in English or equivalent.

Why Should You Take This Course?
If you havenít managed to achieve your grade C you will have to re-sit your English Language GCSE. You will do the course in one year alongside your main programme of study. You will study a wide range of texts from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, including literature and literary non-fiction as well as other writing such as reviews and journalism.

Paper 1: Explorations in Creative Reading and Writing

One literature fiction text
Section B: Writing
Descriptive or narrative writing

80 marks
50% of GCSE

Paper 2: Writers' Viewpoints and Perspectives

Section A: Reading
One non-fiction text and one literary non-fiction text
Section B: Writing
Writing to present a viewpoint

Written exam 1 hour 45 Minutes
80 marks
50% of GCSE

Non-examination Assessment: Spoken Language

Presenting
Responding to questions and feedback
