Biology Students Investigate Ecological Succession

Before the end of term, A Level Biology students visited Camber Sands to investigate ecological succession. They rotated around three stations completing different activities which included; measuring the percentage cover of species from an embryo sand dune to a grey sand dune, finding banded and unbranded snails in various locations to carry out Chi-squared test to see if there was a difference in species distribution, and to identify species diversity within the sand on the shore line and then calculate the index of diversity.

It was a great day and the students were able to complete a practical requirement for their course.
