Bexhill College Men's Football Academy, in association with Chelsea FC Foundation, finished 3rd in the Sussex Schools U19's League. Consisting of 14 colleges from across Sussex, the teams play each other in a league format which started back in September, every Wednesday. Over the duration of the season, Bexhill College won 10 of their games, which included a spectacular 20-0 win over Sussex Downs College (Eastbourne) and, a 9-1 win against Sussex Downs College (Lewes). Throughout this time, the College team scored an impressive 69 league goals, with their attacking style of football. Bexhill College will now play Buckswood School in the semi-final.
1st Team Manager, Rob Wratten commented, ďAll the players train regularly and work extremely hard to improve both individually and as a team in our Football Academy Programme. They deserve recognition by playing in the knockout stages of this competition against the best colleges in the county".
The Collegeís 2nd team have also replicated the outstanding performance of the 1st team. It all went to the last game of the season, in a top of the table clash against Seaford Head School 6th Form. The College team had to win to secure 1st place and goals from Ben Beesley (2), Harry Davies and Jaeho Lee secured a 4 -2 win. Bexhiill College 2nd team finished in 1st place in their respected league, winning 9 games in the season, with their biggest win over Sussex Coast College 11-2. Bexhill College will now play Shoreham Academy from the Sussex Schools U19's 2nd XI League West in a quarter-final match.
2nd Team Manager, Sean Noble commented, "Itís a fantastic achievement for the College 2nd team and also the Football Academy, with both teams reaching the knock out stages. It highlights the College is now attracting the best football players locally".
