Students enjoyed a hectic 3 days visiting the parks and palaces of Vienna incorporating a psychological twist.
Highlight of the first day was a trip to the Narrenturm Museum, Vienna’s original ‘Madhouse’; a rather atmospheric journey into the past looking at how patients with mental illnesses would have been treated as well as examining ancient diseases such as the pox!
The topic of day 2 was Sigmund Freud with a visit to his original consulting rooms and an insight into his life. A guided walking tour ended at the Wiener Prater; roller coasters followed by weiner schnitzel (and a daily step count of 11 miles!!)
By day 3 we were experts on the metro system and enjoyed a teacher led tour to the Easter market at Schonbrunn with an afternoon of leisure in Vienna city centre. Popular activities included climbing the steps to the Cathedral Tower, visiting the catacombs, shopping and tasting Austrian chocolate.
