Business and Economics students teamed up for the third round of the National Base Competition, hosted by The Institute of Charted Accountants for England and Wales. Along with some mentor support from the Institute, Shaun Clark, Ella Pickles, Pavel Helfer, Morgan Watkins, Poppy Mercer and Parsia Malekzadeh synergised their talents, expertise and specialisms to a pitch a strategic proposition for a business in the wearable technology sector.
The students utilised case study material using financial, market, competitor and qualitative data in conjunction with their own knowledge of markets, business decision making and the sector itself to make the most viable and innovative recommendation. Students from across the UK are competing for a place in the final round and to be crowned National BASE Champions 2018.
Economics A Level student, Parisa Malekzadeh commented, “Before the experience I thought that a chartered accountant just looked at accounts and numbers. After doing the challenges, I’ve learned that a chartered accountant actually does so much more by analysing the market and the economy to make recommendations”.
