Earlier this year, Art and Design students at Bexhill College submitted work for the 2017 Farley Arts Trust Awards.
On Friday 13th October, A Level Fine Art student, Shona, won First Prize in the Sketchbook category and came Runner Up in the Painting category at Farly's Farm.
As a 1st Year, Shona did exceptionally well to achieve this recognition as she was judged alongside 2nd Year students. The panel were unaware of this whilst judging the awards.
The exhibiting students were presented with a certificate and those judged to be outstanding in each category receive a Farley Arts Trust Award prize of art materials or equipment for their school or college.
It was an excellent turn out with David Dimbleby & Anthony Penrose (son of Lee Miller) presenting the prizes.
Julie Clark, Subject Leader for Art & Design at Bexhill College, said:"The standard of work from our Fine Art & Textile Design students shone at this exhibition and we are proud of all who exhibited".
This was a great opportunity for students to take their artwork from outside the classroom and into the community and receive wider comment and appreciation by showing it in a professional context in a public gallery.
The artwork is being displayed for a period of 2-3 weeks at Farley’s Farm, Muddles Green in Chiddingly.
