AS Level Drama and Theatre Studies students present their examination pieces. Shorter versions of established plays seen in a new light and re-worked for a contemporary audience. Caryl Churchill’s Fen explores female relationships in a tight-knit community with one woman looking for a way out. Anthony Horowitz, usually known for the Alex Rider Series teen novels, wrote the play A Handbag where a group of young people attempt to stage a performance of The Importance of Being Earnest but all is not as it seems. Finally, Brecht’s famous The Caucasian Chalk Circle is a whirlwind ride of eccentric characters culminating in Grusha’s agonising choice.
