On the 8th of October, 1st year Politics students visited the UK Parliament in London.
Students were taken on a guided tour of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, where they were shown some of the most important places in law-making in the country. Following the tour, and having some time to watch Parliament in session, the students took part in a workshop where they learned more about the process of becoming an MP and how to win an election. The new MP for Bexhill and Battle, Kieran Mullan, then joined via video call to explain more about his role in Parliament and what challenges he is hoping to tackle in his new constituency.
“I really enjoyed the trip to Parliament, the tour was interesting and it was great to speak to our new MP and hear how he is working for us” – Seano, 1st year Politics student.
“Going to Parliament was a really good experience, an eventful day that was well worth the journey!” – Herbie, 1st year student.
