Why Should You Take This Course?
The aim of this qualification is to prepare the learners to work with children between birth and five years, with knowledge of children up to seven years.
Course content
You will study a range of units including:
• Supporting Children's Play
• Supporting and Preparing Children for School
• Supporting Children's Positive Behaviour
• Use Legislation Relating to Equality, Diversity and Inclusive Practice
How will I be assessed?
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence and written assignments. You will complete 250 hours of work placement in a variety of settings including child-minders, nurseries, primary schools and private schools for children with additional needs.
Are there any special expenses?
There will be a cost to travel to and from placements, plus a DBS check and uniform.
What could I do next?
Upon achievement of this qualification learners can progress on to a Level 3 qualification or on to various jobs in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors, such as:
• Nursery assistant
• Classroom assistant
• Pre-school assistant
