Beauty Therapy Technical Certificate

Entry Requirements:
A genuine interest in the Beauty Industry. A range of 3/2 or D-E grades. Students who do not have English and Maths at grade C/4 or above will be required to take a qualification in these alongside their Beauty Therapy course.

Why Should You Take This Course?
This Level 2 Technical Certificate in Beauty Therapy Services aims to provide you with essential technical practical skills and knowledge, which will equip you to seek either further training or employment as a junior beauty therapist within the beauty industry.

Course content
This qualification covers all the core skills you will need to progress to further learning and training, or to enter the world of work within the hairdressing industry. You will study the following mandatory content:
Health, safety and hygiene
Consultation techniques and client care
Manicure treatments
Pedicure treatments
Waxing services
Facial treatments
Skin type analysis
Eyebrow shaping services
Eyelash and eyebrow tinting services
Make-up applications
Anatomy and physiology for beauty therapists
Are there any special expenses?
A Level 2 beauty kit and uniform will be needed for this course.
How will I be assessed?
Service Portfolio: You must produce a portfolio that includes evidence of practical service carried out with proficiency.
Graded Practical Assessment: You must carry out a complete service on a client. The service will be graded at either Fail, Pass, Merit, or Distinction by centre assessors.
External Examinations: This will test your knowledge and understanding from across the whole vocational area.
Graded Synoptic Assessment: You will be required to undertake a graded practical assessment during which you will carry out a range of services from across the units.
What could I do next?
Learners who achieve this qualification are eligible to become members of the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) or Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT). As a beauty therapist, learners could progress directly into employment in a variety of contexts, which include: commercial salons, destination/day spas or independent/self-employed/mobile/ home-based settings.
