At least 5 GCSEs graded 9-5 including Dance and English at grade 4 or above and/or other substantial Dance experience or examinations.
Why Should You Take This Course?
During this course you will gain a detailed understanding of every aspect of the dance world. This will allow you to develop yourself as a performer and expand your knowledge of the development of dance in a wider context. This A Level forms a good foundation for the study of Dance at a higher level.
Course content
This qualification is designed for candidates with a substantial dance background. Candidates are required to: choreograph, perform and analyse solo and group dances; study various dance works in depth (which includes observational theatre trips); and examine the development of dance with a focus on specific dance practitioners.

Whilst taking the A Level Dance course you will also have the opportunity to take part in dance companies run in the College, to enhance your dance technique and performance and workshops run by professional dance companies

Component 1: Performance and Choreography
Practical exam
80 marks
50% of A Level
Component 2: Critical Engagement
Written exam: 2 hours 30 minutes, understanding and critical appreciation of two set works
100 marks
50% of A Level
Are there any special expenses?
Through the course there will be opportunities for learners to go on theatre trips to see professional dance companies and to participate in workshops with dance practitioners. You will be expected to wear clothes appropriate for dance.
What could I do next?
This qualification will aid entrance to university to study Dance and opens the door for careers such as dance teaching, performing, choreography and critical analysis.
