Why Should You Take This Course?
The Extended Certificate in Sports Coaching is suitable for any students with a keen interest in Sport who wants to progress directly to employment in the coaching and development sector as an assistant coach.
You will study 3 units over two years of study.
Each topic is related to the sporting interests of the group wherever possible and adapted to be as practical as the course allows. It is advisable to have a link or be a member of an external sports club due to the coaching placement hours required in year 2.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through internally assessed assignment work which may take the form of written assignments, presentations, or interviews. Students will also be expected to lead practical coaching sessions regularly to peers and external sports groups.

This course would be most suitable for students who have a keen interest in sports coaching, who wish to study sport further into Higher Education or alternatively enter employment into the sporting industry. Previous students have pursued various sport related degrees (in Sport Science, Sports Development and Teaching at Universities including Bath, Loughborough and Brighton), as well as using their qualifications from the BTEC Sport course to gain employment in the leisure and sports industry.
