Why Should You Take This Course?

You may need a Science GCSE for your chosen career e.g. teaching or nursing.

Course Content
Throughout the course you will study the following content:

• Cell Biology
• Organisation
• Infection and Response
• Bioenergetics
• Homeostasis and Response
• Inheritance, Variation and Evolution
• Ecology

There will be 10 required practicals during the year that must be completed to pass the course but will not count towards your final grade.

How will I be assessed?
The course will be assessed by exam only. There will be no controlled assessments.

Are there any special expenses?
There may be optional visits involved in the course. It is advisable to purchase a revision guide. You may need to purchase a lab coat and goggles.

What could I do next?
A GCSE in Biology is a good qualification for many other courses and is necessary for careers such as teaching and nursing. It may allow you to progress to A Level Biology if you have an additional Science GCSE at 6 or above or equivalent.
