At least 4-5 GCSEs graded 9-4, including English or Maths.
Why Should You Take This Course?
This course is designed to offer students an opportunity to undertake high quality, employment related learning with a focus on Information Technologies, Computing and Computing Technologies. Students who are considering this course are doing so on a long-standing love of technology, a logical interest in what makes computers work and a passion and desire to solve problems by building and deploying computing (hardware and software) and creative technology solutions.
Course Content
This course offers a broad curriculum which develops a wide, vocationally desirable skillset. Core units include topics such as Information Systems, Databases and Information/Cyber Security and Social Media Marketing. The remainder of the units have been selected to offer a specialist pathway into creative ICT including video game design, web design, programming and 2d/3d graphics.
How will I be assessed?
Students will undertake one paper-based exams.
And coursework assessed units, which comprise of centre assessed and externally assessed assignments.
What could I do next?
Students will gain industry specific skills, enabling them to stand out on entry to the workplace or to gain a place on a related degree at universities nationwide.
Students completing this course would be well equipped to enter directly into the technology sector, either through direct employment, or a Level 3 apprenticeship. Students would also be well equipped to continue education at degree level in technical and creative IT courses such as computer hardware, cyber-security, game development or web technology.
