At least 5 GCSEs graded 9-5 including English at grade 4 or above and a grade 6 in Maths.
Why Should You Take This Course?
This course will provide you with an understanding of how markets work and the need for government intervention due to market failure. You will also analyse how economic performance is measured and judge the suitability of macroeconomic objectives and policy. Studying Economics will provide you with the opportunity to debate many contentious issues facing society, such as the payment of benefits to the unemployed and the question of whether increased immigration leads to a more affluent society.

There are many enrichment options available to Economics students including, the MicroLoan Foundation’s ‘Start Something’ Challenge, the Royal Economics Society Competition, the Institute of Charted Accountants BASE Competition and the International Trade Simulation.
How will I be assessed?
Economics is assessed through three exams which include data response questions and extended essay questions.

Economics provides the perfect platform to study the subject at degree level and then onto a range of careers, which could include: chartered accountant, financial risk analyst, investment analyst, and of course economist for either public, private, or not-for-profit organisations.
