Extended Project Qualification

Entry Requirements:

At least 4-5 GCSE’s including English or Maths at grade 5 or above.

Why Should You Take This Course?

The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) allows students to extend their abilities beyond the A Level syllabus and prepare for university or their future career. It is the equivalent of an AS.

Course content
Students are required to carry out research on a topic that they have chosen which is not covered by their other qualifications. They then use this research to produce a written report or an artefact. A student can take inspiration from something studied in class or something completely unrelated to their studies. Students are expected to work independently and need to be very self-motivated. It will involve extended autonomous work by the student.

How will I be assessed?
Students are assessed on their performance during the process of research (keeping a progress log) in addition to a final presentation and the finished product.

Are there any special expenses?
There may be trips that will enrich the curriculum that may incur addition costs.

What could I do next?
It is a highly regarded qualification and universities welcome students who have completed it.
