Why Should You Take This Course?
Choosing to study for a BTEC First in Sport qualification is a great decision to make for lots of reasons. Sport today plays a major role in many people’s lives, from fitness to sports coaching, to how the body & mind respond to exercise and much more. Within this course, you will gain knowledge & understanding of these topics in both a theoretical and practical setting. This course is an ideal stepping stone for progressing to the Level 3 Sport Extended Diploma course.
Course content
The First Certificate in Sport is designed to build confidence, gain further sporting and scientific knowledge, and to enjoy studying in a sixth form environment. Approximately 8 units will be covered throughout the academic year covering various sports-related topics such as:
How will I be assessed?
Each unit of work will be assessed by assignments, presentations and practical assessments with two units being externally assessed exams. Assignments are theoretical and practical in nature and the grades awarded for each will go towards the student’s
final grade.
Are there any special expenses?
There is a compulsory sports kit which students will be expected to wear for all lessons. The course also provides potential opportunities for a host of additional sporting experiences including first aid, coaching badges, trips, and activities.
What could I do next?
You could progress to an Extended Level 3 Diploma or move into employment.
