Why Should You Take This Course?

This course is an ideal foundation, providing students with understanding of Media through engagement with media products, production processes and technologies. This leads to the application of practical and creative skills that transfer easily into the workplace.

Course content
Units may include:
Introducing media products and audiences
Students will gain knowledge and understanding of media institutions, how they work and the products they produce. It’ll look at production processes, target audiences, distribution, and marketing through the analysis of media products.
Audio-visual media skills
Students will gain and demonstrate practical audio-visual media skills by producing sample materials for audio-visual media products, such as film sequences.
Audio media skills
By producing sample materials for audio media products, students will achieve and demonstrate practical audio media skills and will produce radio sequences and podcasts.
Print media skills
Students will develop practical skills in developing and producing print media products. They may create film posters and print advertisements.

How will I be assessed?
This course is assessed through coursework and has
no exams.

What could I do next?
This qualification has been designed to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to enable progression to Level 3 courses in related areas.
