Performing Arts Practice Foundation Diploma (Acting)

Entry Requirements:

At least 4-5 GCSEs graded 9-4 including English at grade 4 or above. Experience of performing is essential. This qualification cannot be taken alongside Performing Arts Practice Foundation Diploma (Dance) or Performing Arts Practice Foundation Diploma.

Why Should You Take This Course?

This is a course for students who have a strong practical acting ability and want to explore different styles of acting in performance-based assessments.

Course content There will be opportunities for performances throughout the course including public performances in College. You will develop practical skills and gain a wider understanding of the performing arts industry. You will work on modules which could include:

  • Exploring Performance styles
  • Creating Performance material
  • Performing as an Actor for an Audience
  • Planning a career in the industry

How will I be assessed?
This is a two-year course which is based on continuous assessment of both practical and written components rather than external examinations.

Are there any special expenses?
Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to take part in professional workshops and attend performances. At times you may need to buy costume pieces and scripts. You should be attending performances regularly.

What could I do next?
This qualification enables you to apply for acting courses in Theatre Higher Education. Some students also progress onto Drama schools for professional training.
