Two of Bexhill College's longest-serving members of staff have recently announced their retirements, after having worked there for over two decades each.
Receptionist, Marie Simmons, joined the College at the old site nearly 30 years ago. Marie held a range of roles over her years at the College but she will be remembered for her role as head receptionist which she held for nearly 20 years. Over that time Marie has been the first person people meet or speak to first when they contact the College. She has provided a first-class reception service for the College over the years, providing a positive and welcoming image when people arrive and in addition, has fielded thousands of wide-ranging queries.
Vice Principal, Linda Johnson joined the College 27 years ago, teaching in the Health and Social Care department. In Linda’s early years at Bexhill College she taught Health, Early Years, Psychology and Counselling courses. She was also one of the College’s Counselling team in the early years that the College provided such a service for students. During her career, Linda was promoted to Head of Faculty, followed by becoming a Director of Teaching & Learning and latterly Vice Principal. During that time as a senior leader, Linda has made a significant contribution to the development of the College.
Principal Karen Hucker said ‘Both staff have made notable contributions to the College over many years. Marie and Linda cannot be thanked enough for their long-serving careers at Bexhill College. We wish them a long, happy, healthy and well-deserved retirement’.
