On Tuesday, Bexhill College Volleyball Academy travelled to the University of Brighton to face their British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) volleyball teams.
Bexhill College women's team were up first. They put on a fine display, winning two out of three matches and with three academy player debuts.
Four academy players made their debuts for men's team and were excellent throughout. They kept all three matches competitive and just missed out on a win in the first game.
The College students played superbly against older opposition, who compete regularly in the university leagues. The scores were as below:
Women's Academy
Bexhill College 2 – 1 University of Brighton
(25-20, 23-25, 15-6)
MVP - Nina Papayova
Men's Academy
Bexhill College 0- 3 University of Brighton
(25-27, 17-25, 8-15)
MVP – Nicolas Quijandria Beytia
Both sides will travel to Hampshire on Monday to compete against Peter Symonds College. Our women's team have been unbeaten all academic year and, are the current champions of South East England. This will be a great opportunity for them as they prepare for AoC National Championships in Nottingham this April.
