Bexhill College Women’s Volleyball Academy through to National Cup Semi Finals

The women's volleyball academy join the men's academy in making it to the last four in the country. The girls travelled to Kettering on Monday 12th February to play Tresham College in the quarter finals and won 3-1 in sets.

The girls took an early lead thanks to some fantastic serving from international student V. Braunova. Game one was comfortable for the girls winning 25-11. They edged game two and still took the win 25-17. The girls switched off during game three, thinking they'd won which meant Tresham came back to win 25-19. With Bexhill needing one more game to win, set four was tense but the team put on their best performance so far this season, dominating 25-9 and winning a place in the national cup semi finals.

New captain D.Budak was a great leader and R. Budak controlled the game as our setter. There were some fantastic debuts from F. Molinari and M. Croitor and N. Pitts and A. Serrano put it solid performances. MPV was Vlasta Braunova.

In other news, the Men's Football second team (blue) played on Wednesday 6th February against BHASVIC and won 3-1, which cemented their 100% track record. Goals scored by David Chasumba, Josh Pool and Patrik Pergal. However, Monday saw a top of the table clash where they were defeated by second place Claremont.
Last Friday the Badminton Academy travelled to Cornwall to play Truro and Penwith College in the last 16 of the National Cup. This is the furthest the Bexhill College team has got but unfortunately lost.

The Women's Basketball Academy were in Hackney on Monday against New City College in the Quarter Finals. It was a hard game, leading to a loss but getting to this stage of the tournament was a great achievement in itself.

The College is extremely proud of their sports academy and their continued success locally, regionally and nationally. Trials are coming up for the academies this March and booking information can be found on the website. Any current Year 11 students interested in joining one of our sports academies should contact Adam Hurley (Sport Academy Manager) -adamhurley@bexhillcollege.ac.uk for more information.
