Economics and Business students seized the opportunity to put their commercial skills to the test by taking part in the 2nd round of the ICAEW's National BASE (Business Accounting & Skills Education) competition.
The event required the students to act as business consultants for a fictional firm. They were provided with a range of information which allowed them to produce a situational audit, which they then used to devise a strategy for the business. Teams of students produced a video of themselves delivering their recommended strategy.
Bexhill Sixth Form College values the process of entering students for external competitions, this enriches the learning experience and develops essential employability skills. Ben Whittingham, Course Leader for Business also attended the event, he commented:
"This real-life scenario gave students an opportunity to relate knowledge learnt in the classroom to the world of business and economics. They benefitted from developing their transferable skills and through attaining an insight into the world of accountancy.”
