Earlier this month, Bexhill College student Thomas Finn was invited, along with 23 other successful Maths students from across the UK, to attend a training and selection camp at Trinity College, Cambridge. The students had already achieved a high result in the challenging British Mathematical Olympiad competition (round 2), and this training camp, which included two 4½-hour papers, was a selection process for the UK Maths squad. Thomas has now been selected as part of a team of 6 to represent the UK at the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad. The UK has been invited as a guest nation to send a team to the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, to be held in Chişinău, Moldova from 30th April to 5th May. The team will be accompanied by Dominic Rowland of Winchester College (Leader), Dr Geoff Smith of the University of Bath (Observer with Leader) and Dr Ava Yeo of the Francis Crick Institute (Deputy Leader). We wish Thomas the best of luck at this prestigious event.
