Bexhill College has been supporting ‘Love Our Colleges' week, which ran from Monday 14th October to Friday 18th October.
The ‘Love Our Colleges' campaign was launched by the Association of Colleges (AoC) in partnership with UCU, Unison, NEU, GMB, ASCL, TUC and NUS, calling for longer-term funding in further education. Bexhill College and all other colleges across the country are urging the Chancellor to address the underfunding of further education in the upcoming spending review.
The College has been raising awareness through various activities, such as spreading the word through its posts on social media, and getting students involved and asking them what they love about Bexhill College.
Statistics show that Bexhill College and other colleges across the UK have had to deal with an overall cut of 30% to funding over the last decade. Colleges are campaigning for a cash injection of £450m for 16-18 year old education, a boost of £250m for adult education and training, new capital investment of £240m for IT, new kit and equipment, and to reflect the growing numbers of young people studying in colleges.
Along with other colleges in the UK, Bexhill College is asking MP's to urge the Chancellor to follow through on PM Boris Johnson's commitment to prioritising investment in further education and skills in the upcoming September spending review.
