Bexhill College's Football Academy has received some exciting news. Lillie McSweeney, who plays in the women's academy, was recently offered a scholarship through Future Elite Sports to play football in America next year.
Lillie explained how she found out about the scholarship opportunity: "Future Elite Sports came into College and gave a presentation about the options after College regarding different scholarships, and the possibility to be offered a scholarship to play in a different country.”
After expressing her interest, Lillie received a call inviting her to take part in some trials. Only a few weeks later, she received the news that Future Elite Sports would like to offer her a scholarship to play football in America.
Following the news, Lillie said: "This news was amazing, I genuinely didn't think it would happen. My family and friends were so happy and supportive.”
Lillie encourages any young sports players to take opportunities that come their way, as they never know where it might lead.
Lillie is also an ambassador for English Colleges Football Association (ECFA), and recently travelled to Aston Villa Football Club to complete some training. She is one of only 200 students in the whole country to be an ECFA Ambassador.
