Business Students Show Entrepreneurial Flair and Fundraise over 1000 for Charity

As part of their Vocational Business course, second year students at Bexhill College were tasked with raising as much money for Chestnut Tree House as possible. The students were split into teams to come up with fundraising ideas, and were each given a 50 investment by the children's hospice. The teams had to brainstorm, decide upon and plan ideas before marketing them to their target audience. The students then used their 50 to buy any equipment they needed before carrying out their fundraiser in order to raise money for Chestnut Tree House.

All of the teams came up with different ideas including a cake stall, gift card raffle, football tournament, staff quiz night, and a movie night for the local community at the College's Izzard Theatre. The teams worked well together and received a huge amount of support from people both within the College and the wider community.

In total, the Business students managed to raise an incredible 1,021.51 for the charity, deeming the activity a huge success which will help toward Chestnut Tree House to care for children with life-threatening conditions, and their families.

The students found this a rewarding and exciting opportunity;

Chloe Wilkinson said ""Being involved in the Chestnut Tree House 50 challenge has definitely been my favourite moment during my time at Bexhill College. Having the opportunity to replicate a real-life business experience, whilst raising money for such a wonderful charity was very special, and I'm so happy I was a part of it. The support my team and I received from teachers, fellow students, and people outside of the College was unbelievable, and I am so pleased with the final figure that we managed to raise for Chestnut Tree House."

Connor Jackson said "I found it really rewarding to be involved in the whole experience of running an event for Chestnut Treehouse and would like to do this again in the future.

Well done to all students involved. For more information about the Vocational Business Course at Bexhill College, visit our website: www.bexhillcollege.ac.uk
