Bexhill Fairtrade Town Committee has given a teddy bear to all known cafes in the area that sell Fairtrade products. Bexhill College were happy to receive Benny the Bear to display in the College Refectory, encouraging students to support Fairtrade. Every Fairtrade product bought helps lift farmers out of poverty, their children into education and a brighter future.
Jack Doherty, member of the Bexhill Fairtrade Town Committee, commented "We are very pleased to recognise the Fairtrade credentials of Bexhill College. The Canteen has a wide range of Fairtrade products.” Jack also presented the College with a Fairtrade certificate.
Bexhill College will be celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight with a stall in the Refectory on Monday 24th February and Wednesday 4th March. Vocational Business students are also excited to be undertaking the Fairtrade Rice Challenge, which involves selling 90Kg of rice in order to pay for a year's schooling for a child of a rice farmer in Malawi.
