Bexhill College Humbling 7-3 Defeat By Metropolitan Police

Bexhill College in association with Eastbourne Borough Football Club and Chelsea Football Club Foundation suffered a humbling 7-3 defeat at the hands of Metropolitan Police in the National Alliance Under 19 League.

In a tight opening both teams created several chances with both Charlie Gibson and Alfie Simmons both striking the crossbar with efforts that on another day could easily have found the back of the Met Police goal. As the half wore on Metropolitan Police took control and raced into a 5-0 at half time through a combination of good play but also individual errors in the part of Eastbourne.

Fletcher Holman was introduced at the interval and Eastbourne made the perfect start scoring inside the first 20 seconds of the 2nd period through Louis Elliot who converted a Charlie Gibson cross. Any thoughts of a comeback we’re quickly dispelled as Met Police scored two quick fire goals.

Eastbourne continued to apply pressure with Holman becoming a growing influence on the game and he bagged himself a goal and an assist setting up Elliot for his 2nd of the afternoon. Chances continued to flow throughout the remainder of the contest, but no more goals were added to the score line with Met Police returning home with all 3 points.

Academy manager Sean Noble commented on the performance, “Individual errors have cost the team the opportunity to make the game more of an even contest, it is an area of our game which the players must try to address if they want to pick up points in future games. Defensively we must try to improve as we cannot expect to score 3 goals in every game and still not take any points. The players were asked to win the 2nd half which they had done so we do have a positive to take forward to the next fixture."

Player of the match was awarded to Finlay Tarrant who impressed throughout the game in both central midfield and at Right wingback.

Eastbourne team: Hollobone, Tarrant, Mason, Duah, Ademola, Perry, Moir, Simmons, Elliot, Taylor & Gibson

Subs: Caicedo, Holman, Graves & Akerjola
