Bexhill College in association with Eastbourne Borough Football Club returned to action in the National Alliance Under 19 League with an impressive 9-2 victory against Walton & Hersham. Following last week’s defeat to Carshalton Athletic, Eastbourne began the game well dominating possession for long periods which quickly led to them racing into a 5-0 lead inside 15 minutes with the goals coming curtesy of Ole Peterson x 3, Fletcher Holman and Abdul Ali.
Walton & Hersham continued to apply themselves well and scored goals of their own before Peterson added his fourth of the game meaning at half time the score line was 6-2. Eastbourne were forced to withdraw their goalkeeper due to injury with midfield player Fletcher Holman taking over in goal for the second period.
Eastbourne added to their tally early in the second half through Alfie Still before Peterson added his 5th and Delight Akerejola completed the scoring to see the game finish 9-2.
Eastbourne coach Gert Schalper commented after the game “After the 7-0 defeat last week out, it is difficult to re-compose as a team, especially with such a young team playing their first games for Eastbourne. However, the boys showed their determination which was evident from the on-field display and fantastic performance today. The team not only showed their quality offensively, but also showed their ability to defend as a team when without the ball. This was a key aspect of our last training session, and it will hopefully become a core of every game we play this year.”
Player of The Match was awarded to Ole Peterson who delivered an impressive display, scoring 5 goals.
