This term students across the college took part in the East Sussex Youth Cabinet elections. The East Sussex Youth Cabinet aims to enhance the democratic representation of young people in East Sussex, with Members of the Cabinet working with a variety of external agencies to provide insight into the views and experiences of young people, while representing their views. Elected members of the cabinet engage with their peers through workshops and surveys, then feedback their views to decision makers. Members of the East Sussex Youth Cabinet are also elected to the Youth Parliament to represent views from the entire county.
Candidates were required to produce an election manifesto, outlining the policy areas they felt were most significant for young people in the local area, and which matter they considered of national importance. The most frequent being transport links and climate change. The election took place on Monday 22nd November, with the A Level Politics students supervising the ballot box and encouraging voters to read the manifestos and vote.
Out of seven candidates, Nell Aschkenasy King was elected.
