Bexhill College Defeat Dorking Wanders 6-5 Away From Home

Bexhill College in association with Eastbourne Borough Football Club and Chelsea Football Club Foundation defeated Dorking Wanderers 6-5 away from home in the National Alliance Under 19 league on Wednesday afternoon.

Eastbourne started the game in the worst possible manner with Dorking scoring early in the game. Louis Elliot restored parity with good finish from a Delwin Duah through ball. Elliot doubled his personal tally latching on to a long pass from Herbert Ademola to round the keeper and put Eastbourne into the lead.

Alfie Simmons extended the lead further finishing well from the edge of the box from a Jack Taylor pull back. Elliot completed a 1st half hattrick from the penalty spot after a Dorking player inexplicably caught ball in his own area after Elliot had struck the post.

Dorking started the 2nd half well, but Elliot added to his personal tally following a glowing team move from deep inside the Eastbourne half. Dorking pegged Eastbourne back with a quick response before Elliot added his fifth of the game and Eastbourne’s 6th from a Fletcher Holman knock down with 20 minutes remaining.

Dorking staged a strong comeback and made the score 6-5 in the dying moments, but Eastbourne held on for a deserved three points.

Academy manager Sean Noble commented, “It is pleasing to come away with three points from any away game however the performance could have been better as we allowed Dorking back into the game. The final few moments were a lot tougher than they could have been. We are a developing team who are gaining confidence from each game and it is important we continue to see out games in a professional manner.”

Finlay Jack had an excellent game on his return to the Eastbourne midfield alongside Ryan Moir. Tom Perry also deserves a mention for a solid performance in defence linking well with Finlay Tarrant on the right-hand side of the team.

Player of the match was awarded to Louis Elliot for his 5 goals which earned Eastbourne the three points.

Eastbourne Team: Hollobone, Tarrant, Mason, Duah, Ademola, Perry, Moir, Jack, Simmons, Elliot, Taylor.

Subs: Gibson, Holman, Martinaj.
