Bexhill College 2nd team took on Cardinal Newman 2nd team in an evenly contested league cup quarter final at Bexhill College.
The game started a little scrappy with both teams settling into the match, however the first bit of quality shown from Bexhill led to the opening goal.
A nice passage of play ended up with a Bexhill free kick just outside the box, and up stepped Eric with a wonderful strike into the top corner of the goal. Cardinal Newman shortly after levelled to take the game into half time at 1-1.
Bexhill restored their lead midway through the second half through a lobbed shot from Cameron Howard. Again Cardinal Newman pushed back and equalised again as they started to take control of the game. A missed Bexhill penalty meant that the game finished 2-2 and headed into extra time.
Cardinal Newman took the lead from another set piece in extra time leaving Bexhill 15 minutes to find a way back into the game. Inspired by Thierno Diallo driving the team on from midfield, Bexhill equalised through Ollie Peterson, then shortly after took the lead through a 30 yard strike from captain Archie Sangster. The win was completed as Ollie went one on one and rounded the goalkeeper to roll the ball into an empty net for a very good 5-3 win and progression into the semi final for Bexhill College 2nd team.
