Bexhill College Football Academy members were treated to a ‘careers in football’ day delivered by the Chelsea Football Club Foundation.
The remotely delivered event was organised in conjunction with St Mary’s University London, saw various staff members from Chelsea football club discuss their job role and the qualifications and skills required to carry out the job.
The roles discussed within the careers day included elite level coaching, community coaching, scouting, hospitality and player care.
The highlight of the day was a special presentation delivered by former West Ham, Chelsea and England star Joe Cole who discussed playing career but also transition into coaching and punditry following his retirement from the game.
Academy manager Sean Noble commented “our academy players are very fortunate to have access to such an event and our thanks must go to all at the Chelsea Foundation and football club for arranging and delivering the talks to our students today. It is hoped that some of the players will be motivated and inspired by what they have seen today to perhaps pursue a career within the football industry.
We place a high value on not just developing the players technically but also by educating the players in the correct way to give them the best structure possible to be successful in any career pathway they choose and today goes a long way in supporting this.”
