Bexhill College Entertaining 8-4 Home Win To Dorking Wanderers

Bexhill College in association with Eastbourne Borough Football Club and Chelsea Football Club Foundation returned to action in the National Alliance Under 19 league with an entertaining 8-4 win at home to Dorking Wanderers.

After starting the stronger of the two sides and creating a number of chances Eastbourne found themselves 2-0 down inside the first 20 minutes. Two quick fire goals from Fletcher Holman saw the sides once again level on the stroke of half time.

Harley Mason and Louis Elliot were both introduced at half time and along with a change of formation the momentum of the game shifted back towards Eastbourne however Dorking restored there lead following errors in the Eastbourne defence.

Charlie Gibson immediately equalised with Eastbourne’s first attack from the restart before Elliot put Eastbourne into the lead following a Holman cross. Elliot added his second of the game quickly after before Alfie Simmons scored directly from a corner to make the scores 6-3.

Astonishingly Dorking pulled a goal back directly from kick off to bring the game back once again to life with Dorking putting the Eastbourne defence under greater pressure. Elliot completed a second half hat trick rounding off an excellent move to all but finish the game as a contest before Holman also completed his hat trick to make the full-time score 8-4.

Following an entertaining game, Eastbourne coach Sean Noble commented, “For those in attendance I am sure it was an entertaining fixture however from a coach’s perspective there were several areas we could improve upon. Our game management and number of individual errors made the game as a contest far more competitive than it needed to be. It is great to score 8 goals showing that as an attacking force we carry a real threat, but we must make ourselves more difficult to score against.”

Player of the match was awarded to Delwin Duah for producing his best performance in an Eastbourne shirt with several important interceptions.

Special mentions must also go to Louis Elliott and Fletcher Holman, both of whom scoring hat-tricks.

Eastbourne Team: Holter, Tarrant, Martinaj, Duah, Ademola, Spice, Jack, Taylor, Simmons, Holman, Gibson

Subs: Perry, Caicedo, Elliot, Mason.
