A BAG OF TRICKS, ITS NUMBER 6!

BEXHILL COLLEGE 2ND XI IN ASSOCIATION WITH CHELSEA FC FOUNDATION MADE IT THREE GAMES UNBEATEN WITH A 6-0 VICTORY AT HOME TO THOMAS BENNETT COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

The goals were shared between a lively attacking cohort as Bexhill continued their winning ways heading into the festive period. An electric start saw David Pereira give Bexhill the lead 5 minutes into the game with a lovely half-volley into the top corner. Moments later Ashley Crabb, who was a constant threat throughout, grabbed himself 2 goals in 4 minutes to put Bexhill 3-0 up on the 14-minute mark. The attacking trio wasn’t done there as Conor McManus got himself in the act. Two brilliantly worked passages of play down the right-hand side in the final 5 minutes of the half resulted in McManus cleverly getting across his defender and slotting home to give Bexhill a 5-0 lead at half-time.

Another goal in the second half from Ronaldinho Chikoto rounded off a dominant display from Bexhill who also kept their first clean sheet of the session thanks to some heroic defending from Lennon Hammond, denying Bennett a clear run at goal. Credit should go to Thomas Bennett who regrouped and applied themselves well throughout the game, creating a lot of good chances for themselves in the second half.

Reflecting on the game, manager Matt Simpson said “We started the game so bright and on the front foot which set the standard for the rest of our game and allowed our quality on and off the ball to shine through. We kept our focus and concentration in the second half to keep Bennett at bay and it’s a huge positive to get our first clean sheet of the season too.”

Player of the match

Conor McManus – A complete striker’s display. He was a constant threat, always looking to get on the ball and make things happen for his team as well as being the first line of defence out of possession. His movement was so clever for his 2 goals and he thoroughly deserves them for his performances since the start of the season!
